![]() Well seems like I have at least found the source of the weird soft clicks I experienced yesterday. I seem to recall that a reverb plugin was my culprit. No doubt white noise at max volume is very loud though!Īre you running the latest Logic? I haven’t had the noise blast think for ages - at least a year I reckon. 700dBFS must be an internal (pre output) measurement, it’s impossible to output that as audio. And as said, just attenuate by for example 100dB will probably not change anything so I hope what Ice9 does is truly mute (multiply with 0) the sound and not just attenuate it by however much was programmed.Looks like ice9 is your solution - it mutes the output. And as said, just attenuate by for example 100dB will probably not change anything so I hope what Ice9 does is truly mute (multiply with 0) the sound and not just attenuate it by however much was programmed.Īs the picture I attached shows (I have taken it directly after the noise blast happened) it looks like it originates from a channel inside of Logic and goes through the stereo out (which I renamed master) so I hope, when a plugin is able to totally mute the output instantly when this happens, I might be safe. I have an active monitor controller with analogue volume control and the possibility to mute speakers so of course the first thing I do is mute the output but until I realise what is going on and can act, 1-2 seconds of extremly loud white noise blast towards me.Īs the picture I attached shows (I have taken it directly after the noise blast happened) it looks like it originates from a channel inside of Logic and goes through the stereo out (which I renamed master) so I hope, when a plugin is able to totally mute the output instantly when this happens, I might be safe. Who knows how many dBSPL my system was able to produce but for sure too many and I don't know if the sound was only of short duration or I stopped it somehow but even if the sound was constant, measuring its loudness with an SPL meter would be the last thing that crosses my mind. ![]() It was of course not 700dB SPL (if it was you probably would have heard it) but, as said, according to Logic's meters 700dBFS (= 700dB over digital clipping).
